Activation of the Old Cement Works Site at Portland Moves a Step Closer

Members of the public are invited to attend a community engagement session to hear a presentation outlining the next steps for the reactivation of the old Portland Cement Works site.

Site owners AWJ Civil are facilitating the community consultation session, which will include a presentation of potential redevelopment options, outline of forthcoming demolition works, provide an update on timelines for the sites redevelopment and announce the launch of the projects website.

“I urge everyone in the Lithgow community to come to this community engagement session and hear about the exciting next steps being taken to activate this long dormant key site in Portland. I believe the redevelopment of this site holds the key to the future growth of Portland and the new owner’s vision for the site is nothing short of spectacular,” said Lithgow City Council Mayor Maree Statham.

The old Cement Works site at Portland was recently acquired by AWJ Civil – a Sydney based company with a strong track record in delivering quality construction and development. AWJ Civil is pursuing an innovative development solution for the site that will merge commercial outcomes with showcasing the sites extraordinary cultural heritage.

“We recognise how important the site is to the local Portland community and we are very keen to work closely with everyone to create a unique development within the Lithgow area. I’m looking forward to meeting more local community members and hearing about their vision for the site,” said Martin O’Connell Director at AWJ Civil

The Community Consultation will be held at 3:00pm on Thursday 21 May at the Portland RSL Club 10 Wolgan St Portland. For more information about the community engagement session please contact Kris Leck on 0410 596 977
