Baby Bounce and Rhyme Time at the Library

Babies love music and movement, they are sponges for everything that goes on around them.  Parents are being encouraged by Lithgow Library to use the enjoyment of sound and play to develop early literacy and foster a love of reading in their children.

The Lithgow Library Learning Centre, Main Street Lithgow, is introducing a new program for 0-2 year olds. Starting Thursday 7 May 2015, Baby Bounce and Rhyme Time will take place every Thursday from 10.30-11.00am. This program involves singing, talking, bouncing, music and some musical instruments to nurture your baby’s early literacy development. The program caters for 0-2 year olds and is a great way to introduce your baby to reading, socialising and music. It is also a great introduction to our programs for children in the Library; once they get a little older, regular Story Time for pre-schoolers is on every Wednesday at 10.30am.

Lithgow City Council Mayor Maree Statham said, “Many parents can testify that Story Time is a valuable program that develops the literacy skills of children and promotes a life-long love of libraries.  I highly recommend Baby Bounce and Rhyme Time as an initiative that fills the gap for 0-2 years and introduces babies to socialising, music and instruments.” So please join us with your 0-2 year old on Thursdays to have some fun, meet some new friends, and get a little bit silly in the Library!

Providing a range of quality exhibitions and community programs that offer educational and social opportunities for all members of the community is part of Council’s Caring for the Community Strategy in the Community Strategic Plan 2026.
