Blue Green Algae Alert at Lake Wallace

Lake Wallace is currently experiencing blue green algae, and an alert has been issued by the NSW Office of Water.

“With the presence of blue green algae in the water, Lake Wallace is not suitable for any activities that involve direct contact with the water by humans or animals” said Lithgow City Council Mayor, Councillor Maree Statham.

“Weekly sampling of the Lake is continuing and an updated alert status will be being reported each week” concluded Mayor Statham.

More information on algae alerts is available from the algal information line maintained by the NSW Office of Water, at 1800 999 457 or the NSW Office of Water web page at www.water.nsw.gov.au.

Caring for our community is one of the principal activity areas adopted in the Lithgow Community Strategic Plan 2026.
