Blue Green Algae Update

Improved Test results have allowed the Blue Green Algae alert at Lake Wallace to be lifted, however Lake Lyell continues to be closely monitored.

“There has been a pleasing reduction in Blue Green Algae in Lake Wallace” Lithgow Mayor Maree Statham said today.  “The monitoring results are now at the lower end of the amber zone and the continued improvement means restrictions are now lifted with signs at the Lake being removed.”

“Lake Lyell remains at amber level and Council is naturally keen to see the next round of results as we would not like to see an impact on popular recreational activities.” The Mayor added.

More information on algae alerts is available from the algal information line maintained by the NSW Office of Water, at 1800 999 457 or the NSW Office of Water web page at

Caring for our community is one of the principal activity areas adopted in the Lithgow Community Strategic Plan 2026.
