Mobile Food Vans

Before operating a mobile food van within the Lithgow LGA, the owner or operator is required to notify Council by completing the approved form prior to the commencement of operations.  

 

Depending on where and when you intend to operate your mobile food van, approval under Section 68 of the Local Government Act 1993, Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 or Lithgow City Council Policies may also be required prior to commencing operation. If food is prepared, stored or produced at a home based business you will be required to produce written evidence from your ‘Home Council’ (where the premises is located) confirming your premises are suitable for the storage, preparation or production of food for sale.

The completion of the food business notification form and any subsequent application forms should be submitted to Council with the relevant fees a minimum of 7 days before the event.

All operators of mobile food vans within the Lithgow LGA may be subject to regular inspections from Council’s Environmental Health Officers to ensure requirements under the Food Standards Code and the Food Act 2003 are being met.
