Residents will soon enjoy two new practice cricket wicket nets at Glanmire Oval, with construction commencing today.
The new wickets are a much needed addition to the Glanmire Oval complex. This will replace the old and dilapidated nets and be a welcome inclusion.
“Council welcomes this addition to Glanmire Oval which will provide a quality facility for the Lithgow cricket community. This was at a cost of $50,000 which was funded through Council’s Capital Works Budget” said Lithgow City Mayor, Councillor Mayor Statham.
The nets will consist of two concrete pitches covered with shield quality synthetic turf which will be enclosed with cricket proof type netting and dividers.
“Council is very supportive of the development of all sports within the Lithgow Local Government Area and cricket has always been a traditional sport played in our area by both junior and senior players” concluded Mayor Statham.
Providing quality recreational facilities for the health and wellbeing of the community is part of Council’s Community & Built Environment Strategies in the Community Strategic Plan 2026.
