The 2015 Sustainable Economic Growth for Regional Australia (SEGRA) Conference is being held in Bathurst in October and Central NSW Councils are pleased to announce their support.
This year, the SEGRA conference will focus on agricultural issues including land management, Fair Trade Agreements and opportunities to “value-add” through investment in advanced industries such as making the most of clean technology, renewable technologies and agricultural intensification.
“SEGRA is one of Australia’s key conferences on regional issues,” said Lithgow City Council Mayor, Councillor Maree Statham. “We strongly encourage individuals, businesses, stakeholder groups and our regional Councils to come together to attend the conference in Bathurst to discuss the issues and opportunities that affect sustainable economic growth in regional NSW.”
“It is significant that such an important conference is being delivered in Central NSW and particularly fitting for Bathurst, Australia’s first inland city, which is celebrating its bicentenary this year ,” said Mayor Statham.
The Centroc Board meeting held at State Parliament last month featured significant dialogue with State Ministers regarding opportunities for regional development.
“The SEGRA conference is timely in light of Centroc’s recent meetings with State Ministers,” concluded Mayor Statham. “The State Government gave encouraging signals regarding regional development, so now is not the time for us to drop the ball. The SEGRA conference is an opportunity for our region to come together to keep the ideas and actions flowing.”
The SEGRA conference will be held on 20 – 22 October 2015 at Charles Sturt University, Bathurst, NSW. For more information go to http://www.segra.com.au/
