There is still time to register for Clean Up Australia Day and Lithgow Council is encouraging involvement across the community.
2015 is the 25th Clean Up Australia Day and Sunday 1st March is the day when residents and community groups can participate and do their bit for the local environment.
“Clean Up Australia Day is a great opportunity for Lithgow residents and community groups to participate in this iconic nationwide event and provide a positive contribution to our local environment” Lithgow Mayor, Maree Statham said today. “Registration can be done on the Clean Up Australia Day website and Council will arrange for the removal of collected rubbish from all registered sites.”
Upon registration, Clean Up Australia will send a cleanup kit to participants containing most things they need for their site. People can also use the Clean Up Australia website to volunteer at a site that is already registered. A limited number of additional rubbish bags will also be available at Council upon request.
Register with Clean Up Australia online; www.cleanupaustraliaday.org.au/get-involved/ or by calling 1800 282 329.
Businesses can also pledge their support to the Lithgow Litter Prevention Program at www.council.lithgow.com/litter-prevention-program/ or by calling Council on 6354 9999.
This program supports Council’s Community Strategic Plan 2026, and further supports environmental protection and community partnership targets enhancing our natural environment.
