The construction of a second new modern toilet block in the Lithgow CBD has commenced which will provide added convenience for the community and visitors.
Residents using the Mort Street carpark will notice that work has commenced on the second new public toilet facility for the Lithgow CBD area. Water, electricity and sewerage services have been finalised and site works commenced.
Lithgow Mayor, Councillor Maree Statham said today “The installation of a second new CBD public toilet in Eskbank Street is the next stage of Council’s program to improve facilities for residents and visitors in the vicinity of Main Street. The toilet block will be a single unisex unit with similar features to the new facility nearing completion in Cook Street Plaza.”
The building is to be located adjacent to the existing taxi rank which will ensure that it is accessible from the footpath. Whilst part of the garden bed requires removal, the area will be re-beautified and a landscaped buffer will be provided around the building.
The project is being fully funded by Council through its Operational Plan and the building is scheduled for completion towards the end of July.
Providing community buildings and structures that meet the needs of the community is an important part of Developing Our Built Environment which is a Principle Activity Area in the Community Strategic Plan.
