Construction of Rail Overbridge, Wallerawang

The construction of the Wallerawang Rail Overbridge substructure has been completed and varied traffic conditions will be implemented over the coming months.

Residents are advised that the planned partial closure of Tweedie Street and Pipers Flat Road will continue until Tuesday the 8th December 2015. During this time, detours will be available through Cary Street / Oxley Street for Tweedie Street and Daintree Lane / Brays Lane for Pipers Flat Road. This closure is for the purpose of providing new western approaches for the reconstructed Rail Overbridge. Subject to weather, it is anticipated that traffic will be diverted to the new bridge on the 8th of December 2015.

Residents are also advised that the original bridge is scheduled to be demolished on the 23rd – 24th January 2015. Following the demolition, further traffic diversions will be implemented for 3 – 4 weeks at the beginning of February to finalise the construction of the eastern approaches of Main Street, Wallerawang and Barton Avenue, Wallerawang. The current detours will be re-implemented at this time to ensure that all bridge approaches are constructed appropriately and as swiftly as possible.

Residents are urged to note the change in traffic conditions and exhibit caution and patience while travelling through the area.

The provision of safe, efficient and effective networks to transport people and goods within and through the Lithgow Local Government Area is a primary objective of Council’s Bridge Management Program in the 2012-2022 Strategic Asset Management Plan.
