Developers and residents are encouraged to arrange early consultation on development applications before lodgement to reduce the possibility of unidentified issues delaying the approval process.
Early consultation between developers and Council staff is the key to ensuring a trouble free approval process. Council offers a pre-lodgement meeting service aimed at resolving any potential problems at a preliminary stage, greatly reducing the potential for unnecessary delays.
“The benefits of the pre-lodgement meetings not only saves time for developers but also enhances the reputation of the Lithgow as a local government area where new businesses are welcome” said Lithgow City Council Mayor, Councillor Maree Statham.
Undertaking a development application can be complex at times. Council believes that reducing the potential for delays is a collaborative process between developers and Council.
“Residents, builders and potential developers can contact Council’s Environment and Development Department to discuss development proposals and arrange pre-lodgement meetings. Council officers will try and assist applicants with early advice to prevent frustrating delays” concluded Mayor Statham.
Ensuring that communication between Council and the community is open and effective by providing information on the requirements for development applications is part of the Governance and Civic Leadership responsibilities of Council in the Community Strategic Plan.
