Council seeks grant funds to improve community infrastructure

Lithgow City Council is seeking grant funds from a number of NSW Government funding programs to improve social, cultural and sporting infrastructure across the Lithgow region.  

“Council welcomes the allocation of funding by the NSW Government for much needed infrastructure in Regional NSW,” said Lithgow City Council Mayor Stephen Lesslie. “ Council has been very active in consulting with the community to take advantage of this funding which will have significant and long lasting benefits for the community.”

 Community Building Partnership

This program funds community infrastructure projects that promote community participation, inclusion and cohesion and deliver positive social, environmental, and recreational outcomes.

Council has submitted applications under this program for:

  • Skatepark enhancements at Portland and Wallerawang.
  • Building improvements to  Lithgow Girl Guides.
  • Rydal toilets.
  • Enhancement of CCTV network in Lithgow CBD.

Stronger Country Communities Program  

This Program supports projects that make a significant contribution to improving local communities. Council will be submitting for the Lithgow Adventure Playground in Endeavour Park Lithgow, Farmers Creek cycleway and Lithgow Tennis Club improvements.

Infrastructure Grants

Funding under this program is for capital projects in the areas of Arts and Culture; Emergency Preparedness; and, Sport and Recreation.

Council grant applications under this program will include:

  • Skatepark enhancements Portland and Wallerawang
  • Lithgow Tennis Club improvements
  • Other projects are under consideration including improvements to Wallerawang Sportsground Grandstand.

Regional Culture Fund 

The NSW Government has announced $100 million in funding for the Regional Culture Fund. Council will be submitting an application for back of stage change rooms and other facilities at the Union Theatre including lighting and sound upgrades.

Resources for Regions Fund

Council will be submitting for funds for Stage 2 of the Main Street Lithgow revitalisation which will include replacing the pavers in Lithgow CBD.

 Regional Sporting Infrastructure Program

Funds larger projects of a regional nature and which are over $1m.

Council is investigating project options that fit these criteria.
