Lithgow Council’s lobbying efforts via the Mental Task Force, the ABC 7.30 report interview and Lithgow community pressure have resulted in Federal Government Funding for additional Mental Health Services in Lithgow to be delivered in the near future by the Nepean Blue Mountains Primary Health Network (NBPHN).
“Council first heard of this great news from media outlets summoned to the announcement and we were ecstatic that the Hon Greg Hunt MP Federal Minister for Health had responded to this issue in the manner that he has, and we are very grateful” said Mayor Stephen Lesslie.
“Lithgow’s Mental Health Taskforce and Deputy Mayor Wayne McAndrew through his well recognised interview on the ABC 7.30 report on mental Health are to be congratulated in their efforts at raising the profile of this issue for the Lithgow Community and the Region generally “ said the Mayor.
“The part the ABC 7.30 Report team played in assisting Lithgow in this matter should be recognised and I hoped to keep in contact with them as this initiative progresses with the assistance of NBPHN” said Deputy Mayor Wayne McAndrew.
