After an extensive search and recruitment campaign, Lithgow Council has appointed a new Economic Development Manager
As part of its plans to play its part in the diversification of the economic base of Lithgow and support existing local business, Lithgow Council has recently appointed a new Economic Development Manager, Mr Andrew Powrie, to its team.
Mr Powrie comes to Lithgow with wide experience in Economic Development, Tourism, Marketing and Promotion in both New Zealand and Australia.
Mr Powrie said today, “A strong economy is vital to the overall health, wellbeing and long-term sustainability of the Lithgow region and its community. In order for residents and businesses to enjoy a sustained level of growth and prosperity, Lithgow must become a preferred location for living, working and business investment. Economic activity and vitality are essential parts of our region’s character and purpose.”
Lithgow Council’s General Manager, Graeme Faulkner added “the appointment of the new Economic Development Manager, who will be situated in the recently created Economic Development & Environment Department, represents a key part in planning for the future Economic prosperity of Lithgow. Whilst councils should not be seen as sole drivers of economic development, they do have an important part to play in developing strategies that assist in enabling economic development.”
“I look forward to getting out and meeting local businesses and the broader community as we deliver projects and programs through Council’s current Economic Development Strategy. The Strategy’s ongoing implementation will be reliant on the support of industry partners, the business community and all levels of government.” Mr Powrie concluded
