The first greenwaste collection for 2015 will occur in the week commencing Monday 2 February.
Residents are reminded that Lithgow Council will be providing a greenwaste collection service and anyone who wishes to take advantage should contact Council’s Customer Service Office or alternatively register on Council’s website before midday on Friday 30 January 2015.
“Council is providing its first greenwaste collection services for 2015. Residents are asked to register and then on the night before 2 February 2015, leave any greenwaste at the kerbside near where they would normally place their garbage bin for pickup”, said Lithgow City Council Mayor, Councillor Maree Statham.
There are some rules to this service and Council will pick up:
- Garden pruning’s no longer than 2 metres and not thicker than 200mm, tied in bundles
- Lawn clippings and leaves must be placed in a durable container, cardboard box or hessian/plastic bag
- A weight limit of 16 kilograms for each bundle or box applies
- Quantity of one cubic metre, which is equivalent to about 4 wheelie bins allowed per premises.
Registration can be via Council’s website www.council.lithgow.com/waste-greenwaste/; by phone on 63549999; or at Council’s Customer Service Centre before 12.00pm Friday 30 January 2015.
Implementing the waste management hierarchy of avoidance, reuse, recycle and dispose forms part of the Developing Built Environment strategies in the Lithgow Community Strategic Plan 2026.
