Bi-Annual Clean Up

Bi-Annual Clean Up

Springtime is the traditional time to remove the winter blues from your home and make it ready for the long days of summer fun. It's also a good exercise in taking stock of your home and its contents. Just make sure that you share the work - and the credit for a job well done.
Council’s helpful tips on organising your cleaning:

  1. Make a list of each room in the house that needs to be cleaned.
  2. In each room, breakdown the individual items that need to be cleaned with a bulleted list. For instance, a kitchen might include refrigerator/freezer cleanup, silver tarnish, cabinet organizing, etc. This way, you can tackle each room piecemeal.
  3. Do a double-check for items that exist independently of a specific room's list. For instance, filters in your air conditioning unit might be due for a change, or you gutters may be clogged with late winter's heavy rains.
  4. Farm out responsibilities to the members of your family. If you have young children, you might give them something small to do.
  5. Schedule a weekend for the spring cleaning. Make sure your family knows that this weekend is dedicated to cleaning.

Lithgow City Council will be providing their Bi-Annual Clean-up on 5 September 2011.  Residents are reminded that a SERVICE BY REQUEST will apply.

ALL PERSONS that require material to be collected are required to register with Council on 6354 9999 before 12 noon on MONDAY 5 MARCH 2012.

On Sunday of the collection week, please place the material at the kerbside where you normally leave your garbage bin.  The Contractor will collect bulky materials, cases, boxes, cartons and securely tied bundles.  All material needs to be capable of being picked up by two (2) men.

The Contractor will not remove any liquid or material which requires the use of a shovel or any toxic or chemical material. If in doubt, please contact the helpful staff at Lithgow City Council for advice.

Remember, it makes good sense to clean twice a year instead of leaving everything for one overwhelming clean-up, so schedule a second cleaning session six months or so after your spring clean. Even if it takes you a few days, undertaking major cleaning twice a year is time saving because your house will remain cleaner and more organised for longer, and easier to maintain with just a light daily touch-up.
