Background

• The Stage 2 Augmentation of the Lithgow Sewage Treatment Plant is being undertaken to meet Environment Protection License requirements for
  treated effluent. The augmentation focuses on secondary treatment and will ultimately improve effluent quality from the plant.
  
  
• The configuration adopted for secondary treatment at Lithgow STP is a hybrid plant that comprises new intermittently aerated extended aeration
  tanks operating in series/parallel with the existing trickling filter units.
  
  
• The works include effluent disinfection and sludge handling and management facilities.
  
  
• NSW Public Works and Lithgow City Council provide contract administration and site attendance during the contract.
  
  

Contract and Construction Progress Summary to July 2010

• Haslin Constructions continue to manage the site and where necessary, coordinate with Lithgow City Council STP Staff when works involve the existing facility.

  As at the beginning of July, 58% of the contract duration has elapsed. The works have been delayed by approximately 4 weeks due to inclement weather and its effects.
