Farewell to Seniors Week 2015

Seniors Week 2015 ran from 13–20 March with a range of exciting events and activities.

The 2015 Seniors Week theme was ‘Be Inspired’, a time for local seniors to celebrate self-expression and embrace the opportunity to attend a range of creative and inspiring events.

Some of the highlights of this year’s events included painting and photography workshops, tours of Eskbank House and Blast Furnace Park, Zumba, yoga, and tai chi classes, croquet games, technology sessions and a gala event at Lithgow Library to mark the end of Seniors Week.

“The events provided opportunities for seniors to learn new skills, make new connections and most importantly to celebrate the important contributions made by seniors in our local community. I have received very positive feedback from participants and look forward to next year’s Seniors Week celebrations,” said Lithgow City Council Mayor, Maree Statham.

With Seniors Week 2015 now over, plans are already underway for Seniors Week 2016. If you are a local and a senior and wish to contribute your ideas for next year’s celebrations please contact Council’s Community Development Officer, Viktoria Gulabovski on 6354 9999 or email council@lithgow.nsw.gov.au.

Working together to support, celebrate and expand the social and cultural diversity of our community, whilst promoting healthy, active lifestyles in a safe environment is part of Council’s ‘Caring for Our Community’ strategy in the Community Strategy Plan 2026.
