PUBLIC EXHIBITION OF DRAFT LITHGOW AGEING STRATEGY
At the Ordinary Meeting of Council of 12th December 2011, it was resolved to place the Draft Lithgow Ageing Strategy on public exhibition until 10 February 2012. Copies are available from Council’s Administration Centre, the Lithgow, Portland and Wallerawang libraries and can be download from Council’s website – www.council.Lithgow.com
Council is interested in receiving feedback from the community on the Draft Ageing Strategy. Feedback can be provided in writing up until 10 February 2012 to Council.

LITHGOW SWITCHES TO DIGITAL ONLY TELEVISION
Lithgow City Council is encouraging residents across the Lithgow local government area to prepare for the 5 June 2012 switchover to digital only television under the Commonwealth Government’s Digital Television Upgrade Program. No analogue signal will be broadcast from that date.
The Commonwealth Government’s Digital Taskforce advises that residents within Lithgow and Wallerawang urban areas and most residents within Portland urban area will receive good quality digital only free to air transmission from 5 June 2012 provided they have a digital TV or an analogue TV with a digital set-top box. Without this equipment, residents will receive no TV signal from 5 June 2012.
Residents in Hartley and in transmission blackspot areas around Portland will receive no signal from 5 June 2012 and will need to switch to a free satellite service known as Viewer Access Satellite Television (VAST).
The Capertee and Glen Davis areas scheduled for switchover to digital only transmission in the second half of 2013, will receive no digital signal from that date and will also need to switch to the VAST service. Council encourages these residents to switch to satellite digital TV at the same time as those in Hartley and blackspot areas of Portland. Council may extend the operation of the Capertee and Glen Davis towers for a period beyond 5 June 2012 however Council anticipates that neither tower will operate for more than a few months to enable residents to connect to the VAST service.
Applications are open until 17 April 2012 for the Satellite Subsidy Scheme to assist people to connect to the VAST satellite service. Council encourages eligible residents to ensure that they apply for the Satellite Subsidy as soon as possible and before 17 April 2012 to ensure that they are not left without television signal from 5 June 2012.

DEVELOPMENT PROPOSAL – DELTA ELECTRICITY – PONTOON
Council is in receipt of a development application for a Pontoon at Lot 231 DP 622326 - Wallerawang Power Station - Main Street Wallerawang NSW 2845 (Lake Wallace).
The application and plans are available for public inspection at Council's Environment & Development Department, in the Council Administration Centre, 180 Mort Street, Lithgow, free of charge, during office hours, until 3 February 2012.
During this period any person may inspect the plans and make a written submission on the proposal quoting Council's file reference, Development Application No.175/11DACC. All submissions received during this period will be taken into consideration prior to Council's determination of the application.
Nothing in this notification confers a right or entitlement to inspect, make copies of or take extracts from so much of a document that, because of section 12 (1A) of the Local Government Act 1993 a person does not have the right to inspect.

EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST
Hassans Walls boardwalk Design and construction
Expressions of interest are invited from companies experienced in the design and construction of boardwalks and viewing platforms in remote area locations. The Boardwalk is to be designed in accordance with relevant Australian Standards and is to cater for disabled access.
All expressions of interest are to be received by 24th February 2012.

PARKING AROUND SCHOOLS
Protecting your child and others
Term 1 begins on Friday 27th January with teachers heading back to school and this means that designated school zones will come back into effect after the holiday break.
Please remember on school days that 40km/h speed zones operate between 8.00am and 9.30am and 2.30pm and 4pm.
The main safety concerns at schools always involve conflict between pedestrians and vehicles. You should be aware that Council has the ability to enforce parking restrictions and illegal road user behaviour around schools.
So protect everyone around schools and drive safely.
