Upgrading of the synthetic surface of Hockey Field #1 at Glanmire Oval to be completed and the field ready for play in the next two weeks.
“Council awarded the tender for the replacement of the synthetic surface to Polytan STI, who have removed the existing surface, undertaken repairs to the shock pad, and are now in the process of laying the new surface. Hopefully the weather will improve, and the field will be ready to be played on in the next two weeks”, said Lithgow City Council Mayor, Councillor Maree Statham.
“The new Polygras Olympia synthetic surface will provide a superior playing surface for local, state, regional, national and international hockey matches, and is vital in ensuring the high quality of hockey hosted in Lithgow.”
“Funding of the $320,000 project has been made possible by Council’s contribution of $200,000 adding to the Lithgow Hockey Association’s allocation of $120,000 for this project” concluded Mayor Statham.
The development of recreational facilities that will meet the needs of the community now and into the future is part of Council’s plan to develop the Built Environment in order to promote Lithgow as a Centre for Regional Excellent in the Community Strategic Plan 2026.
