It’s Story Time at Lithgow Library!

Story Time is a fantastic program for children offered twice a week at Lithgow Library which aims to promote early literacy, motor skill development and a love of reading.

Every Wednesday and Thursday from 10:30am, the children’s area of the Library is full of noisy fun – with singing, reading, crafting and even occasionally dancing! The Story Time program is specifically aimed at 3-5 year olds, however all ages are welcome. Each week we have a different theme; we sing our favourite nursery rhymes, read a story or two and then do a related craft activity.

Story Time sessions are ideal opportunities to spend time interacting with your child while introducing them to books, rhymes and songs. All sessions are free of charge and each child can take home their craft. No bookings are required, just turn up and join in the fun.

Mayor Maree Statham said that story time “Is a valuable resource for our community which develops the literacy skills of children as well as promoting a life-long love of libraries.” So please join us on Wednesday or Thursday to have some fun with your child, meet some new friends, and get a little bit silly in the Library.

Providing a range of quality exhibitions and community programs that offer educational and social opportunities for all members of the community is part of Council’s Caring for the Community Strategy in the Community Strategic Plan 2026.
