Learn how to start or grow your own small business in Lithgow

If you are thinking of starting your own small business or keen to grow your existing, then why not register to attend an Information Session to find out how you can be selected to fill one of the 20 free places being made available to complete a Certificate III in Micro Business Operations here in Lithgow.

The purpose of the Information Session will be to discuss and reveal the unique challenges and opportunities that running a small business offers and to outline to potential participants how to secure a place in the one night per week 7 week course.  The training is an initiative of Lithgow City Council’s Business Taskforce recently established to promote business activity and employment in Lithgow.  The program will be delivered as a partnership project between Lithgow City Council, the Central West Business Enterprises Centre, the University of Western Sydney Lithgow Campus and NSW Trade and Investment.

“I urge both existing small business operators as well as those people with a great new business concept to attend the Information Session and find out how to take advantage of this unique training opportunity.  Small businesses are a significant provider of employment and services within Lithgow and initiatives such as this one are essential in assisting their ongoing viability in challenging times,” said Lithgow City Council Mayor Maree Statham.

The training will include business development learning in key areas such as:

  • How to develop a strategic plan for your business
  • Analysing your finances to maximise profitability
  • Compliance with taxation and regulatory requirements
  • Delivering high quality service to customers
  • Using social media as a business strategy
  • Developing a marketing plan for your business
  • Implementing networking opportunities

Access to a state of the art learning space for the duration of the training is being provided through the University of Western Sydney Lithgow Campus.  The Information Session will be held on Thursday 23 April 2015 at 5.30 pm at the University of Western Sydney Lithgow Campus, corner of Mort St and Bridge St Lithgow.  Please register your interest to attend by contacting Matt Brewster Councils Economic Development Officer on (02) 63 54 9999 by close of business Tuesday 21 April 2015.
