LJ Hooker Reg Cowden Memorial Sports Star of the Year Awards – July 2015 Winners

The winners of the LJ Hooker Reg Cowden Memorial Sports Star of the Year Awards for the month of July 2015 have been announced by Lithgow City Council.

Mayor of Lithgow, Councillor Maree Statham said “The Junior Award for July 2015 was won by Alice Kingston (Goal Ball).”

“Alice traveled to China to compete against other countries for the world title. Australia won the title and Alice brought home a gold medal.”

“The Senior Award for July 2015 was won by Paul Traish (MMA).”

“Paul Traish headed to Cowra for battle in Adrenaline Rush 5 MMA cage fighting promotion. Traish was matched against Peter Cross fighting out of Storm MMA Canberra who has been fighting professionally since 2011 and this being his fifth title bout. This fight was for the MASA featherweight 65.8kg NSW title and was scheduled for five rounds.

“Council extends its congratulations to Alice and Paul on their achievements, and further encourages the community and local sporting organisations to submit nominations for these awards” added Councillor Statham.

Nominations for outstanding sporting achievements in August 2015 will be accepted by Lithgow City Council until 7th September 2015.  Nomination forms can be obtained by contacting Council’s Customer Service Department on (02) 6354 9999, or can be downloaded from council’s website http://council.lithgow.com/sports-star-awards/
