SKATE PARK MEETING 8th APRIL 2009

A meeting will be held on Wednesday 8 th April 2009 at Lithgow City Council to discuss the final two proposed location options for the new Lithgow skate park.

The meeting will explore the options of locating the park on a site between Conran Oval and James Street or locating it on the existing site at the Tony Luchetti Showground. The meeting will also be discussing the constraints on the Watsford Oval site adjoining Barton Street which will prevent the skatepark being built there. This site was put forward as the preferred location at the last community meeting held on Friday 6 th February 2009.

“Council would like to invite community members who reside close to the Watsford/Conran ovals and other interested parties to come along and have their say around the proposed location options”, said Mayor Neville Castle.

“Council would also like to hear from those community members who reside near or are involved in events at the Tony Luchetti Showground.

“All feedback from this meeting will be considered at the Ordinary Meeting of Council on Monday 20th April 2009 when it is proposed that a final decision on the location of the skate park will be made.

“Construction of the skate park will start as soon practicable after the Council has been informed if it has been successful in obtaining funds from the Federal Government through the Regional and Local Community Infrastructure Program”, continued the Mayor.

“This is a great opportunity for the general community and local residents to have their say on where the new skate park will be Located. I encourage anyone who wants to provide input, voice concerns or show support to come along to the meeting on the 8th April” concluded the Mayor.
