Lithgow City Council recently held an awards ceremony and presentations to recognise long serving employees.

Those recognised at the presentation included staff with 10, 15, 20 and 30 years of service. Special recognition was given to employee’s who have left Council’s employment in the last year with over 20 years of service.

Mr Roger Bailey, General Manager said “This is the second presentation held to recognise the long service of council employees, with the first being held last year”.

Mr Bailey said “Council is very proud of the fact that 45% of Council’s staff have 10 years of service or more with Council, and that 20% of those people have accrued 20 years or more service”.

“Another highlight is that the average years worked over the total workforce is approximately 11 years”.

Mayor Neville Castle attended the presentation and said that, “this is a true reflection of a workforce dedicated and loyal to our local community”.

Clr Castle said “it is great to see that the long serving employees are being recognised for their substantial contribution to the workplace over a number of years”.

The most significant presentations were for 30 years or more and these were awarded to Mark Cronin, Carol Farnsworth, David Mitchell and Daryl Nielson. Also of significance was the presentation to Michelle Lane who resigned from Council after 20 years service. Michelle was Council’s Children’s Library Officer and will be sincerely missed.
