Ramp Access to Olympic Pool Completed

Access into the Lithgow Olympic Pool is now easier with the installation of an entry ramp along the eastern concourse.

The Mayor of Lithgow, Councillor Neville Castle said “The construction of a ramp on the eastern side of the Olympic Pool will allow the pool to be easily accessed by all members of the community.

“Council engaged John Quinlan Spas and Pools, who are a specialist contractor in this field, to undertake the works, which involved extending the eastern side of the pool to cater for a ramp allowing wheelchair and gentle sloping access to the pool, remedial works to the concrete concourse and tile repairs”.

“The works costs in excess of $100,000.00, with Council being successful in applying for a grant through the Department of Sport and Recreation, which has covered $30,000.00 of this cost.” said Councillor Castle.

Works have been completed in time for the season opening of the Pool, scheduled for Saturday, 3 October 2009.

The Pool’s opening times will remain unchanged from the 2008/2009 season, being from 7.00am to 7.00pm weekdays, and 8.00am to 7.00pm weekends and public holidays.

Entry fees for the pool have also been set by Council, with children and pensioner/concessions paying $2.20 and adults paying $4.40 per visit.  There are also a variety of season tickets available, with great savings available for season tickets purchased within the first month of the season.  A full list of fees and charges are available by contacting Council’s Customer Service Division on (02) 6354 9999 during business hours.

Water temperatures have been ideal in the lead up to the opening, with temperatures averaging 25oC over the past week.
