Lithgow City Celebrates National Water Week

National Water Week 2009 will see hundreds of events take place on a local, regional and national scale– and this year aims to be bigger than ever!

Being held from 18-24 October, National Water Week 2009 will unite community, school, environmental and industry groups holding events that encourage community participation in water protection and conservation. This year’s National Water Week theme – Securing Our Water Future - draws community attention to the importance of protecting and restoring our water sources.  In most parts of Australia, water supplies are limited, so we are all responsible for our water future.

Lithgow City Council will be hosting an Open Day as part of National Water Week. The event will take place at the Oakey Park Water Treatment Plant on Wednesday the 21st October. Cr Neville Caste, the Mayor of Lithgow City Council, encourages all interested residents to get involved on the day. The Open Day begins at 9:30am and continues until 1pm. The Oakey Park Water Treatment Plant is located at Bells Road, Lithgow.

“National Water Week is a great opportunity for our community to take actions that help protect and conserve our most precious resource – water,” says Mayor Neville Castle.
