Wolgan Road ‘Gap’ 2.3km Road Upgrade Completed

Sealing of the final section of the Wolgan Road ‘Gap’ upgrade was completed this week. This work is the final stage of the Austlink funded Wolgan Road project.

“The steep gradients and tight curves of the well known ‘Wolgan Gap’ made it difficult to carry out the construction however Council staff have done a great job in completing this project” said Lithgow Mayor Neville Castle “Council’s construction team undertook the rehabilitation of the road in 200m intervals allowing minimal inconvenience to the local traffic”.

“The entire 2.3km section of the Wolgan Gap road has been reconstructed and resealed with guardrail safety fencing installed on the steepest sections of the Wolgan Gap.”

“Significant drainage works have also been completed to improve the collection of runoff and redirect it from the road surface.”

“Too further improve the safety of the new work the Roads and Traffic Authority have been requested to undertake a speed zone audit of the new work.”

“Edge linemarking will further enhance  the driving conditions for motorists at this location and these will be installed shortly”

“This work will vastly improve the safety and travel time into and out of the valley now that it is completed” concluded Clr Castle.
