Road Renewals – May 2018

The remaining program of urban and rural roads resealing will commence in the coming weeks.

During the second and third weeks in May, Lithgow City Council will commence a program of urban and rural road asset renewal to completely restore their condition to the standard expected by the wider community. It is believed that this work will greatly improve the drivability of these urban and rural, sealed roads.

In the second week of May, Council contractors will commence the bitumen reseal of selected rural roads throughout the wider Lithgow local government area. In the third week of May, separate contractors will commence the asphalt reseal of selected urban roads in the residential Lithgow area. As part of this program, the following roads have been identified for remediation:

Asphalt:

  • Musket Parade Lane, Lithgow
  • Vickers Street, Lithgow
  • Island Parade, Lithgow
  • Berry Street, Lithgow
  • Read Avenue, Lithgow
  • Hepburn Street, Lithgow
  • Portland – Cullen Bullen Road, Portland (shoulder widening)

Bitumen:

  • Glen Alice Road, Glen Alice
  • Wolgan Road, Lidsdale
  • Pipers Flat Road, Portland
  • Range Road, Portland
  • Boulder Road, Portland
  • Portland – Sunny Corner Road, Portland
  • Coxs River Road / Cullenbenbong Road, Kanimbla
  • Browns Gap Road, Lithgow (strategic slip resistance reseal)

The renewal and improvement projects identified above are targeted towards the repair of assets that have reached the end of their useable life and as such, show significant signs of disrepair. It is expected that this work will not only reduce required maintenance work into the future but also increase the safety and longevity of these assets in line with increasing traffic usage throughout the area.

Please note that the gravel resheeting of the entire length of Cullenbenbong Road, Kanimbla, Irondale Road, Portland and Bonaventure Road, Mt. Lambie has already been completed as part of this program.

Residents are urged to note that traffic conditions may change in these areas while the improvements occur. Please exhibit caution and patience while travelling through the area.
