Senator the Hon Kristina Keneally met with the Mayor Stephen Lesslie, Deputy Mayor Wayne McAndrew and Cr Cassandra Coleman over breakfast whilst visiting Lithgow on Sunday the 22 April 2018.

“I understand the Federal Opposition Senators have a watching brief over Government represented areas, and Senator Keneally has responsibility for the Federal seat of Calare and we are grateful to Councillor Coleman who played a key role in attracting the Senator to meet with Councillor McAndrew and myself” said Mayor Stephen Lesslie.

“Issues discussed ranged from mental health services, aged care, federal assistance grants and employment generation in the Lithgow area” said Cr Lesslie.

“Senator Keneally has undertaken to assist Council in facilitating contact with members of both the Federal Government and Federal Opposition to advance the interests of our Lithgow community and we are planning such contact in mid June this year when attending Canberra for the National Local Government Conference, and the loss of coal-fired power stations in our area, the future of power generation, and jobs in the power industry will be high on our agenda” said Deputy Mayor Wayne McAndrew.
