A strong turnout of local residents ensured a successful community planting day at Hillcrest Reserve Lithgow.
An enthusiastic group of local residents made light work at the recent community planting day at Hillcrest Reserve Lithgow. Lithgow Council invited local residents to participate in environmental rehabilitation work which was made possible through the generous support of Central Tablelands Local Land Services.
Lithgow Mayor Maree Statham said today, “Local residents should be congratulated for participating in events such as this. Their support gives something back to the environment and they should be very proud of their efforts.”
Lithgow Lions Club also generously supported the day by providing a BBQ lunch for the hard working residents.
This project is one of a number of Natural Resource Management Projects currently operating within the area to control invasive weeds such as, Blackberry, Hawthorn, Serrated Tussock and Willows. Lithgow Council in partnership with Central Tablelands Local Land Services will continue environmental works and look forward to continued community support.
Anyone interested in becoming involved in one of these days can visit Council’s Community Events page on its website www.council.lithgow.com for information about upcoming events.
This project supports Council’s Community Strategic Plan 2026, and further supports environmental protection and community partnership targets Enhancing our Natural Environment.
