Traffic Diversion at Black Bridge, Wallerawang

Residents and motorist using the Barton Street-Pipers Flat Road -Commens Street Intersection should be aware of significant traffic  diversions currently in place to accommodate the construction of the approaches to the new rail overbridge at Wallerawang.

Traffic approaching the bridge via Commens Street and Pipers Flat Road are denied access and are directed to use detours around the bridge to access Main Street Wallerawang using Brays lane, Tweedie Street and Blackberry lane.  These detours are clearly signposted.  Other traffic crossing the Black Bridge is controlled by traffic signals.

Motorists are advised to avoid this area where possible or ensure that all signage is understood and complied with to ensure safe passage through the construction area.  Every effort is being made under difficult circumstances to facilitate traffic and pedestrian flow in this area.   The final product will provide a safe access for heavy vehicles, normal traffic and pedestrians.

The provision of safe, efficient and effective networks to transport people and goods within and through the Lithgow Local Government area is a primary objective of Councils Bridge Management Program in the 2012-2022 Strategic Asset Management Plan
