Cash rebates are now available for the replacement of old coal heaters through Lithgow Council’s Alternate Fuel Rebate Program.
With winter now upon us Lithgow Council is reminding residents of its Alternate Fuel Rebate Program which offers generous rebates for the conversion of Coal Burning Appliances to cleaner forms of heating.
Lithgow Mayor Maree Statham said today “This year the rebates are $1,400 for pensioners, $1,000 for non pensioners and $2,000 for commercial premises who replace their old coal heaters with cleaner alternatives such as fixed electric heaters; fixed flue gas heaters; reverse cycle air conditioners; and ducted gas central heating.”
“To be eligible for a rebate you must be a ratepayer in the urban areas of Lithgow or village areas and currently use a coal heater to heat your home or business” the Mayor added.
Conditions of the program and application forms are available from Council’s website.
Improving local air quality forms part of the Enhancing our Natural Environment strategies in the Lithgow Community Strategic Plan 2026.
