A Community Planting Day will be held at Farmers Creek on Thursday 31 May 2018 at 10.00am near Montague Street (down from the Tank St Bridge; near the off-leash dog exercise area).
Lithgow City Council, along with project partners Lithgow Oberon Landcare, is inviting community members to join in and contribute to an ongoing volunteer effort to assist native flora and fauna by regenerating native vegetation along Farmers Creek.
Lithgow Landcare Coordinator, Rechelle Fisher, said “we would love to see residents, neighbours, or in fact anyone who can spare a couple of hours to come along to a planting day to help enhance the health and beauty of our creek.”
The planting day builds on previous revegetation work and will involve infill and understorey planting and mulching.
The objectives of the day include; improving native vegetation and habitat connectivity as well as helping to reconnect people with their waterway by providing an opportunity for members of the public to become involved in creek rehabilitation.
This is a family friendly event and no previous experience is necessary. Gloves, tools and light refreshments are provided for volunteers.
Be sure to wear sturdy shoes, a hat and weather appropriate clothes.
This project was made possible through funding from the NSW Government and is one of many Natural Resource Management Projects currently operating within the Local Government Area.
Register for the event by Tuesday 29 May 2018 with Council’s Environment Department, Landcare Coordinator Rechelle Fisher on (02) 6354 9999 or email to register your interest email@example.com.
