Census data from 2016 indicates that there were approximately 2983 young people between the ages of 12 and 24 living in the Lithgow Local Government region, representing 14.2 per cent of the total population.
Young people make significant contributions to our region and play a vital role to community life through participation in arts, culture, education, sport, business, science, community and civic duties.
Council is committed to supporting young people and aims to work in partnership with young people and community organisations to provide opportunities that encourage the growth and development of our young people. Council actively supports youth participation through Youth Council, volunteering and performance opportunities at events such as Halloween, consultation, community partnerships, youth scholarships, activities and events.
The community development team strives to make a significant contribution to the resilience, wellbeing and spirit of the Lithgow community by working with young people, community leaders and youth organisations to strategically plan, develop and strengthen our community.
