Draft Model Code of Meeting Practice
At the Ordinary Meeting of Council held 22 September 2025, Council resolved (25-239 Resolved) to publicly exhibit for 28 days and members of the community be allowed 42 days in which to comment on the draft Model Code of Meeting Practice. Pending consideration of public submissions, if no submissions are received, Council resolved to adopt the Code of Meeting Practice.
A copy of the Draft Code of Meeting Practice can be downloaded from this page and is available for viewing at Council’s Administration Building, 180 Mort Street Lithgow on weekdays from 8:30am to 4pm.
Submissions must be:
- In writing
- Marked “Draft Code of Meeting Practice 2025”
- Sent to Council’s email – council@lithgow.nsw.gov.au OR posted/delivered to Council’s Administration Building at 180 Mort Street, Lithgow
- The community is invited to make written submissions by 4pm Monday 10 November 2025.
25 -239 RESOLVED
THAT
1. The newly released draft Model Code of Meeting Practice be placed on public exhibition for a period of 28 days and members of the community be allowed 42 days in which to comment on the draft code.
2. If no submissions are received during the public submission period or in the General Manager’s view the submissions do not warrant referral to Council, the Code of Meeting Practice be adopted.
3. Council endorse Section 18 Time Limits on Council Meetings with a conclusion timeframe for meetings being: meetings to conclude no later than 10:30 pm plus a half hour buffer.
4. Council endorse the other proposed non-mandatory provisions included in the draft Model Code which meet best practice as set by the Office of Local Government.
5. Council fix the general order of business included as Appendix 1 of the draft Model Code.
