Out of the Shadows and Into the Light at this year’s World Suicide Prevention Day

Lithgow City Council invites you to join us as we walk Out of the Shadows and into the Light at this year’s World Suicide Prevention Day.

On Sunday September 10, Council will be supporting Lifeline to help shine the light on the reality of suicide. The aim is to raise awareness, remember those lost to suicide and unite in a commitment to prevent further deaths.

“Our aim is to encourage the community and individuals to talk about suicide and demystify what is often a hidden issue in our society and to raise issues relating to prevention and wellbeing,” said Lithgow City Council Mayor, Clr Stephen Lesslie.

Gathering in front of the Civic Ballroom at 5.00pm, the event will begin with a welcome reflection, followed by a candle light walk around the Tony Luchetti Showground. The event will include a free sausage sizzle and will conclude at 7.00pm.

A Wall of Remembrance will be made available where people can post a photo, a letter, a poem, or memorabilia of the loved one they have lost. There will also be information stalls and people on hand to assist with questions.

If you would like any further information about this event, please contact Viktoria Gulabovski, Community Development Officer on 6354 9999 or email council@lithgow.nsw.gov.au.
