Council’s Household Chemical cleanout postponed until 2021

The Household Chemical Cleanout that runs once a year, normally in October/ November has been postponed until 2021.

Every year Council provides a household chemical cleanout with assistance and funding from NetWaste and the Environment Protection Authority (EPA).  Unfortunately Covid and other factors will not allow for a collection this year.

Council is working towards having the event in the first half of 2021.

Council wishes to remind residents that items such as; Motor Oils, Flouro globes & tubes, Paint, Other oils, Household batteries, Gas bottles, Car batteries, Smoke detectors and Fire extinguishers are NOT permitted to be disposed on in Council’s red lidded bins.

Residents are urged to hold on to their household chemicals until such time as Council can run another event in 2021. If you are unable to do so, Council recommends the use of a Community Recycling Centre (CRC). Search EPA CRC in your web browser to find a CRC near you.

A Community Recycling Centre (CRC) is part of the proposed Resource Recovery Centre (RRC) at the Lithgow Solid Waste Facility. This facility is scheduled for completion in 2021 and will make it easier to dispose of household chemicals and recyclables in a one-stop location and accessible whenever the site is open.
