What is drumMUSTER?

drumMUSTER provides Australian agricultural and veterinary chemical users with a recycling pathway for eligible empty agvet chemical containers.

Since inception in 1999, drumMuster has diverted nearly 30 million containers from landfill nationwide. Nearly 2 million containers were collected last financial year alone.

Once the containers have been collected, they are recycled into re-usable products such as wheelie bins, road signs, fence posts and bollards.

In partnership with Lithgow City Council, drumMuster is now available to Lithgow City Council residents at the Lithgow Solid Waste Facility.

How can I use drumMUSTER?

Bookings are essential and must be made at least one day prior to the collection day by phoning 6351 2486. Collection times are limited to 9.00 am to 12.00 noon on the first Saturday of every month.

Once a booking is made you can drop off eligible containers to the Lithgow Solid Waste Facility (Off Geordie Street Lithgow) at the nominated collection time.

What containers are eligible?

Eligible containers are identified by the drumMUSTER logo (shown below). The logo can be displayed on the chemical label, embossed into the container wall or applied as a sticker to the container. Containers not displaying this logo may be from non-participating manufacturers and will not be accepted.

Before you deliver the drums to the Waste Facility you must ensure the drums are:

  • Free of any visible chemical residue.
  • Triple rinsed with water.
  • Clean and dry.
  • Punctured if they are metal.
  • Have all lids removed.

It is noted that this is NOT a hazardous chemicals program and is only intended for the recycling of non-hazardous containers only. Any containers that still have chemicals or chemical residue will not be accepted. Unwanted chemicals can be collected under the ChemClear program.
