The Youth Scholarship Program is funded by Centennial Coal and delivered by Council to assist young people with the cost of extra-curricular activities such as sport, drama or art.
The Youth Scholarship Program helps young people overcome some of the financial barriers associated with extra-curricular activities. Young people can apply for a scholarship of $500 to cover the costs of things like fees, materials, uniforms, etc.
Who Can Apply?
Young people living in the Lithgow LGA aged between 13-15 years (Year 8’s and 9’s) who are engaged or will engage in an approved extra-curricular activity are eligible to apply. This supports the Planet Youth pilot being delivered by the Local Drug Action Team that aims to increase young people’s protective factors, health and wellbeing.
How often can you apply?
Scholarship applications are open year round and are awarded on a case by case basis. Students may apply for a scholarship twice a year, subject to availability.
Applications for scholarships will be considered by Council’s Community Development Team on an ongoing basis throughout the year, and you are able to apply at any time. There currently is no closing date for the Youth Scholarship application form.
