Lithgow Council has taken prompt action to ensure no significant disruption occurs when current General Manager Craig Butler leaves on 30 June.
At their meeting last evening, the Council discussed the importance of maintaining normal operations. The Council determined that the existing Director of Finance, Mr Ross Gurney be offered the role of Acting General Manager from 30 June. Mr Gurney has considerable experience with the Council and deep insight to the key issues and challenges for local government more generally.
Recognising the significance of the role of General Manager, it was also resolved that recruitment of a new person commence immediately. This decision was supported by eight of the nine councillors.
Lithgow City Council Mayor, Maree Statham said, “This Council, and the city that we are leading into the future, has a positive momentum. Last night the Council took important decisions which will ensure that momentum is not lost, and that we use best practice and move promptly to recruit the right professional for the future.”
