Councillor Candidate Briefing Session
To assist potential candidates who are considering nominating for the upcoming local government elections on the 14 September 2024, Lithgow Council will be conducting a Councillor Candidate Information Session on Wednesday 12 June 2024 at 6.30pm in the Western Sydney University Transformation Hub.
The session will provide an opportunity for potential candidates to:
- Identify the key requirements of becoming a candidate for election;
- Identify the legislated role of a Councillor, Mayor and as a member of the governing body;
- Recognise how the Councillor role fits in with other roles and various levels of government;
- Address key expectations and potential challenges in becoming a Councillor;
- Understand how a Councillor’s and Council role fits in with the local government Integrated Planning and Reporting framework; and
- Identify key elements of Council meetings, code of conduct and conflict of interest.
The candidate briefing session will be conducted by experienced Local Government NSW facilitator, Maire Sheehan.
