Lithgow City Council Expression of Interest (EOI)

Lithgow City Council invites expressions of interest from event organisers seeking sponsorship support for unique and engaging destination development events held within the Lithgow Local Government Area (LGA). 

About the Program 

Lithgow City Council supports events that contribute to the vibrancy, identity, and economic development of the region. Through the Seven Valleys destination brand, Council is committed to attracting and supporting high-quality tourism-focused events that showcase the unique landscapes, communities, and cultural assets of the Lithgow LGA. 

An Expression of Interest (EOI) for sponsorship opportunities is open for events that align with the following objectives and demonstrate the ability to: 

  • Showcase the Lithgow LGA and Seven Valleys as a visitor destination 
  • Align with the Seven Valleys strategic marketing and brand objectives of the Destination Action Plan 2024-2030 
  • Have a unique proposition and demonstrated target market demand 
  • Has the potential for the event to grow and expand in offerings and market   
  • Encourage and demonstrate the ability to generate out-of-region visitation and overnight stays 
  • Strengthen the region’s event calendar and appeal 
  • Demonstrate measurable return to the Lithgow LGA visitor economy 
  • Deliver the proposed event prior to 31 December 2026. 

A maximum cash sponsorship of up to $40,000 or a lesser value appropriate to the proposed event may be made available for events that meet or exceed the criteria.  

Further support from Lithgow City Council may include in-kind services, promotion through Council and destination channels, and strategic partnership support. 

Events sponsored by Lithgow City Council will be required to enter into the Council’s Sponsorship agreement.

EOI Submissions under this program close 3.00 pm on 2 June 2025. 

 Applicant Criteria and Questions 

As part of your EOI submission, please respond to the following: 

  1. Why is your event a unique proposition?
    Describe what sets your event apart from others in the region, state, or nationally. What makes it compelling for visitors and participants?

     

  2. Identify the cash sponsorship contribution sought from Council?
    Include details of the event’s budget structure and capacity to deliver against the proposed budget.
  3. What support will you require from Council in addition to sponsorship?
    Additional support may include logistical assistance, access to venues or infrastructure, marketing, or coordination support.
  4. How does your event position itself in the marketplace?
    Outline your target audience, competitors, and how your event contributes to the regional or state event offering.
  5. What is your event structure, including financial and labour capacity?
    Provide evidence of how your event is viable, sustainable, and has been planned for long-term sustainable growth. Evidence of the use of local suppliers, contractors, volunteers, or community groups would be beneficial.
  6. How will your event drive out-of-region visitation and overnight stays?
    Provide evidence or a plan for attracting visitors from outside the area and encouraging extended stays during and related to your event.
  7. Provide an outline of the proposed growth and development of your event
    May include KPI’s and details of ongoing funding expectations in future years.
  8. How does your event align with the Seven Valleys brand?
    Identify which brand pillars your event connects with (e.g., nature, heritage, adventure) and how.
  9. Has the proposed event received other sponsorship or funding?
    Has the proposed event received funding previously from corporate or government organisations, and is the event intending to apply for further sponsorship or grant funding?
  10. Is your event listed on the Australian Tourism Data Warehouse
    Does your event have an established relationship with Destination NSW or Destination Network Central West? Please provide your ATDW product number if applicable.
  11. Demonstrate the promoters’ and/or organisers’ prior experience in delivering similar events
  12. Provide details to support the EOI application, including: 
  • Who is the business entity applying for the funds 
  • Australian Business Number (ABN) 
  • Contact Person 
  • Key Event Personnel

To express your interest in sponsorship, please address the questions detailed in this document and provide any supporting material if available, such as an Event Plan, Risk Plan, Marketing Plan, Traffic Management Plan, as well as any relevant supporting statistical data, and submit to:

EOI submissions close 3.00 pm on 2 June 2025 

Lithgow City Council reserves the right to determine not to offer a sponsorship arrangement to all, or any of the individual EOI submissions, received through this Events Sponsorship EOI process. 

Lithgow City Council reserves the right to determine the amount of sponsorship funding it may offer to an event based on the assessment of the application and the demonstrated ability of an event or event proposal to provide a measurable return to the Lithgow LGA.  

Successful events will be required to enter into a sponsorship agreement with council that provides a clear expectation for the use of the funds, in line with the aims and objectives of the event and their benefit to the Lithgow LGA.
