This Sunday is Australia day, residents across the local government area will choose how they wish to reflect, respect or celebrate the public holiday.

Australia Day has a different meaning to each of us depending on who we are, where we come from, and how we came to be an Australian.

Reflecting on our complete and complex history lays a path to a stronger future, celebrating common bonds such as, a desire for unity, and the promise of safety, stability and prosperity is time well deserved to connect with family, friends and the wider community.

I look forward to celebrating the greater city of Lithgow, its achievements and most of all, its residents, we all have a place in the story of Australia.

The first ordinary Council meeting for 2025 will be held Tuesday 27 January. the business papers for the meeting are available now on Council’s website here

If you are interested, check out the agenda and if you feel strongly about an item one way or another don’t hesitate to contact one of your Councilors.

I really value community input and feedback; The council is still calling for expressions of interest for our committees. By joining one of the Council committees, you gain another pathway for contributing to the Lithgow City Council. If interested, please submit an expression of interest by email no later than the end of January 2025.

I want to thank all the residents who have passed on feedback, it is important to constantly grow and develop, continuous lifelong learning will help with responding quickly to change and embrace challenges when needed.

I will finish off by saying that it was a pleasure to be asked along to the Lithgow Parkrun 8th birthday last Saturday the 18th. Congratulations to all the volunteers and participants that ensure that this is a continuous success, it was also wonderful to witness Zoe Walsh becoming part of the Lithgow Show Society family as 2025 Lithgow Young Woman Ambassador.
