Lithgow City Council has announced the appointment of a new General Manager. Mr Ross Gurney has accepted an offer of the position which was the decision of the Council at an Extra-Ordinary meeting held on 13 June. Mr Gurney will commence in the role on Monday 1 July 2024.
Mr Gurney has been a member of the Council’s senior leadership team since 2017. He is currently the Council’s Director for Finance and Governance. Prior to this Mr Gurney was employed in the finance portfolio of the Blue Mountains Council. This included a period as Acting Chief Financial Officer of that council.
Lithgow Council Mayor, Maree Statham, said, “This was a competitive recruitment process. Mr Gurney’s appointment will result in a smooth continuation of the many key, strategic actions that this council has initiated to ensure a high performing Council and a resilient city. I look forward to continuing this work, and pursuing other important agendas, with Mr Gurney.”
The appointment will be finalised after a procedural step of obtaining council approval to attach the Council seal to the contract of employment.
