Proposed Timed Parking – Wolgan Street, Portland

A number of businesses have raised concerns with Council regarding the unavailability of parking in Wolgan Street, Portland, especially on the western side between Williwa Street and Williwa / Vale Lane, due to vehicles parking for extensive periods in the one spot.

This is greatly impacting local businesses, as parking in the Central Business District of Portland is sparse, and community members are not able to park within the CBD to access their local businesses.

A proposal to install 2 hour timed parking from 8.30am to 6.00pm Monday to Friday and 8.30am to 12.30pm Saturdays on the western side of Wolgan Street, between Vale Street and Williwa Street is currently being investigated, with the community being invited to comment on the proposal until 19 March 2021.  This proposal will not affect the existing accessible parking spot located in this area.  During this period, Council is also undertaking traffic and pedestrian counts within the CBD to be used in conjunction with the assessment of the proposal.
