Lithgow City Council previously advised that, following a detailed risk analysis, access to the facility was limited to the main entrance, off Magpie Hollow Road only. This decision has been reversed, with access reinstated on both Bloody Cutting Road and Sir Thomas Mitchell Drive.

Following feedback from the community, it has become clear that there has not been sufficient opportunity for the public to speak with Council regarding the proposal.

It is important that a good risk management approach is afforded to the management of all recreational facilities. However, this cannot come at the cost of appropriate communication and consultation whenever changes are made.

The new gates have been reopened. Over the coming weeks, Council will continue to engage with the local community and interested user groups regarding the proposal.
