Temporary Road Closures
ANZAC Day Commemorations
Council wishes to advise that as part of planned ANZAC Day commemorations, temporary road closures will be implemented on Friday, 25th April 2025.
Portland
These closures will take place from 5.30am to 11.00am for
- Villiers Street from Green Street to Wolgan Street
- Wolgan Street, from Firth Street to Williwa Street
- Wallerawang Road from Cullen Street to Wolgan Street
- Lett Street, from Williwa Street to Vale Street
There will be two (2) services conducted, with the first from 6.15am to 7.00am (Dawn Service), and the second from 10.30am to 11.00am.
Roads will be closed from 5.30am with barriers will remain in place between the two (2) services. Road closures will be manned by members of the Portland SES unit.
Wallerawang
These closures will take place from 7.30am to 10.30am for Main Street, Wallerawang, from Pipers Flat Road (Black Bridge) to 72 Main Street (The Continental Hotel).
Patrons will assemble at the Goods Shed in Main Street from 8.30am for a precession to the Memorial, with the service expected to conclude at 10.00am.
Residents and business owners are asked to keep these changes in mind when travelling within the area and allow additional travel time to utilise detours if necessary, and / or arrange alternative access arrangements during this period.
Lithgow
These closures will take place between 9.00am and 12.00pm for:
- Eskbank Street, between Hill Street and Main Street (no access from connecting side streets including Short Street, Hill Street, Bent Street Lett Street and laneways)
- Main Street, between Eskbank Street and Hassans Walls Road (no access from connecting side street including Bank Lane, Station Street, Sandford Avenue, Naomi Street, Gray Street, James Street, Blanchard Lane and laneways)
- Lithgow Street, between Mort Street and Main Street
- Mort Street at Eskbank Street intersection, intermittent closure by NSW Police, allowing precession to cross Mort Street in groups.
Roads will be closed from 9.00am except Lithgow and Mort Street (MR516), with the detour to commence from 10.00am, and intermittent closure of Eskbank / Mort intersection from 10.30am), and roads progressively opened when safe to do so (with progression of march).
The march will assemble in Eskbank Street, at Hammond Park (Hill Street) from 9.30am, ready to commence at 10.30am, proceeding along Eskbank Street and Main Street to QE Park. The ceremony in QE Park is expected to commence at 11.15am.
A detour for traffic, including heavy vehicles, will be along Ferro Street, Methven Street, Wrights Road and Lithgow Street (to the intersection with Mort Street).
