Lithgow City Council advises residents of the temporary closure of the carpark at the Lithgow Cemetery due to renewal works.
The first stages of these works are carrying out a renewal of the layback (entrance) into the carpark. Whilst the works is in progress, Council has restricted access to the carpark effective immediately. The carpark section of the Lithgow Cemetery is expected to be closed until Friday 24th May 2024 weather dependent.
The Council advises that there are no scheduled burial ceremonies during the time that the car park is closed. The Council also recognise that there are visitors that regularly attend the cemetery to mourn and reflect and would emphasise that the cemetery is still open for visitation and accessible for pedestrians. Please be mindful of changed traffic conditions in the area.
These works are being carried out to prepare the next stage of works, where the cemetery carpark area will be resealed. The community will be advised once a date has been scheduled with contractors for these works to be carried out.
