Works will be starting on the repair of Browns Gap Road on Monday 22 January 2024, requiring gates to be installed top and bottom. During the works there will be loaders and excavators parked on the road, making it dangerous for the public. The area will be construction zone and only approved personnel will be permitted on the site.

The works remove overhanging vegetation and large unstable rocks and create protection berms. The works will take 3 to 6 weeks, depending on the amount of loose rock exposed as the works proceed.

These works are stage 1 of the remediation. It is hoped that this will lead to being able to open at least 1 lane of traffic. Once these works are completed, a risk assessment will be undertaken to assess the option of opening the road. Further works will occur as stage 2 to stabilise the area below the current road to ensure there is no further ground movement.
